Kera is in the history books mainly due to Lakha Phulani. Lakha Phulani was a powerful ruler of middle Kachch. His capital was Kapil Kot, which is presently known as KERA . He was contemporary king to Solonki King Mulraj {942 A.D. TO 997 A.D.} Lakha Phulani built a fort around the capital and shiva Templein the 10th century.

The River Nagamti passes through Kera from Trivani and joins Gudjod; Beraja and ends in Mundra Sea.

Many people from surrounding villages look up to Kera as their central point for shops and banks.

Kera-kundanpur from the 24 Ghams was the 1st in 1973 to build an industrial Training Institute {I.T.I}. Today Kera-Kundanpur has two Balmandirs; Kumar and Kanya Sara.

Kera-Kundanpur was the 1st to have a cricket Pitch "Kapil Kot Cricket ground". It was here that whilst levelling the ground that a treasure; rare coins were found.

Kera has four Shree Swaminarayan temples; two for the Shreeji Bapa and two for the Under Narayan Dev. The ladies temple was built in April 1997. The men's temple was built in 1989. All temples in Kera have been painted in traditional bright colours. Also, in Kera there is Santan Hindu Temple. Kundanpur has two Shree Swaminarayan Temples. New Shiva temple has been built for past 10 years.

The population of Kera is approximately 7,500. This has grown rapidly in past 10 years, due to growth in Banks, Shops, New Buildings, Roads, Farming, and construction Material and Higher Education in Industrial Training Institute. People from other villages come for further studies in Kera; currently there is huge waiting list for admission to I.T.S. School.

Today Kera has sufficient water that supplies to each and every house. The Sewaj is now been completed and running for past 3 years. Many thanks for fund from Kenyaand Londonfor this type of contribution to Kera Gham. Gawrakshan has been set up for past fourty years, to ensure the animals are well looked after during dry season. And many small projects are also set up for the benefits of poor people. Most of the street are now fully paved, with the help of local government. Hospital is also running well, different kind of people local or abroad provide good donation every year towards the running of the hospital. Many new buildings have been built in the last 10 years, many of this are from abroad and now leaving in Kera or Holiday homes. This has improved Kera's image and standard.

Kera- Kundanpur is a Multi-cultural community where Kanbis {labourers & Farmers} co-exists with Kojas, {carpenters & shop owners} Lohanas, {produce sellers} Suthars {carpenters}, Darjis {tailors} Dhobis {wash cloths} Kumbhars, Gowal, Lahore, Arjun, Bramins, Jadejas, Harijans, Kholis, Shia and suni Muslims.

The Muslims community, which are predominately Khojas, has 2 Mosques in Kera, Gula Malisa and Jaminsa; the past 2 melas were held in Kera;
